the thing about the West is that there are so many places to explore.
by the time off-season rolls around, i try to take mini road trips to explore places near Jackson Hole.
my favorite jaunt just outside of town is to the lovely Turpin Meadow Ranch.
when i’m looking for a few days, or just a night away, it’s the perfect driving distance…around 1 hr!
the drive up through Grand Teton National Park is always spectacular as you seriously never know what you are going to see: from leaves changing, to snow covered peaks, to bison crossings and sometimes if you’re lucky, a bear.
turpin was recently remodeled and it looks like it was hand picked out of a ralph lauren catalog. we were pretty excited for the invite up!
it’s so rustic and charming but also handsomely designed that adds mad sophistication.
their teeny guest cabins are drop dead gorgeous – so romantic.
we opted to stay in one of their newer chalets, which offered more room with a loft and living area.
a girlfriend was in town this fall and i wanted to use this time to also vacation!
sometimes it can be tough when friends and family come to visit and you have to continue with your normal day to day work life.
i know, woe is me!, but i really wanted to experience the mountains with her, and not have to worry about running to the office while she was on vacation.
so we got out of dodge and headed up north, where the internet and cell service is spotty at best – just what i needed to get off the grid.
we spent a day horseback riding with one of the ranch guides around buffalo valley, with a private yoga sesh at this beautiful mountain lookout.
hellllllo aspen trees!
we hiked, we ate amazing food, we drank fun cocktails, but mostly we just spent the time catching up on all things life – which is the best way to do a Girl’s Trip.
turpin meadow ranch is stunning in the summer and fall, but it’s also amazing in the winter.
i try to make a trip up there once a season for cross country skiing and their mouth watering lunch menu.
i’m not kidding when i say the food alone is worth the drive!
to get there from Jackson Hole (or the Jackson Hole airport):
head north on highway 181 towards Moran Junction.
once you arrive at the Grand Teton National Park entrance, stay right towards Buffalo Valley.
take a left on Buffalo Valley Road – this road is accessible year round.
stay on this road all the way until it dead-ends into the ranch property – about a 5 mile drive from the turn off.
