an ode to jackson hole.

10 years. I moved to Jackson Hole 10 years ago this week and I’m having ALL THE FEELS. It’s crazy how slow and how fast time goes, all at once. When I was flying out to Jackson Hole at the ripe age of 22 for an interview, I remember so vividly KNOWING in my gut that this was an important flight for me….so much so I puked on the plane. It was such an intense gut intuition to know where I was headed was going to be an important part of my life. And at the same time I had no idea what was in store for me.

If I could go back and tell that 22 year old Meagan how much beauty, and love, and heartbreak, and loss, and absolute magic this place had in store for her. If I could go back and tell her how much a tiny town could shape her soul and spirit and mold her into the woman she’s supposed to be. There was so much of it all and yet still so much of it to experience. Life is funny, you certainly can’t plan for it… I never in a million years thought I’d be here for a decade, but I got sucked in, just like the rest of us who came for a winter and just never left.

I get asked a lot what my favorite part about living here is and without hesitation my answer is always, the people. The mountains are high and mighty and majestic, but the people I’ve met in this place are even more so. From the life long friends who have planted their roots here and have become my family, to those who were just passing through, to the friends I’ve lost in those big mountains, to the amazing local business owners who have become dear friends, and to all of the crazy mountain town characters that give this place so much funk….thank you, thank you, thank you for helping shape me into who I am today. You all will forever be in my heart and in my story. Thank for you for making this place Home.

*also, this isn’t actually an ode. k, bye.
