The topic of therapy has been coming up a lot late The topic of therapy has been coming up a lot lately with so many different people in my life, and yet it still has such a weird stigma to it. Since it’s May and #MentalHealthAwareness month, this is your sign to go to therapy, because let’s be honest, after these last two years, we all need it 😘 We’re humans, trying to figure out how to navigate this world and we all carry so much junk with us from the stories we were told about who we should/shouldn’t be, or even worse, the stories we tell ourselves about who we are not. If we have any shot of growing into who we are supposed to be - we have to unpack. Therapy helps 🤘🏼 There is this false narrative that we need to go when things are wrong, but just like working out your physical body, we all need to keep up with our emotional well beings, too. I’ve never left a therapy session wishing I hadn’t gone. Do yourself a favor and find a therapist you love. And remember, just like finding a new gym, it may take a few tries before you find the best match ❤️

This is a story about community and the amazing on This is a story about community and the amazing one we live in…. Last summer, while walking my dogs, we passed a trailer with a dog chained to it. The dog launched at us with so much force that he threw himself backwards by the neck. He was new to our walk route and quite frankly, scared the 💩 out of me. After adopting Rudy Boots and all of the training we have done, esp around fear reactivity (99% of the time a dog freaks is bc they are scared), instead of thinking “that dog is a dick”, I was like “damn, that dog is really scared” 😳 I had never seen anyone at that property before, let alone a car so I started to pay more attention on our walks….how long he was out there, how he reacted to others, did he have water? TBH, it kept me up at night. I also learned that a dog getting yanked by the collar only makes them more stimulated, so I figured I’d buy a harness and throw it on the yard….thinking whoever lives there would get the hint? 🤣 I walked it over and instead of seeing him chained up, he was happily playing fetch with a woman who worked for Meals on Wheels, delivering daily food to the old man who lived there. We chatted about the sweet pup named Scout and his dad who lives alone. Once I met the dog, he was so sweet! I started taking him on our daily dog walks and worked with @pawsofjh and via Stories (you guys!) to help find more volunteers to help me walk this dog and to work on his fears. 6 months later we have a full crew of neighbors who feed and walk Scout and we make a point to check on his dad multiple times a day. We were all strangers and now a new circle of friends. This community SHOWED UP ❤️❤️❤️ Big thanks to Jess at Paws for all of the support in making sure Scout gets to stay with his dad and helping us find the best dog people of Jackson Hole - let’s be honest it’s basically everyone who lives here 🙃 For his 91st bday his dad took us out for ‘Rita’s at the fittingly named El Abuelito’s (“grandpa” en Espanol 🥹) I know this town has changed a lot in the last few years and there’s a lot of talk that it is losing its soul. I’m here to argue that it’s still here in this community, you just might have to dig a little deeper ❤️
